Sendblue pricing: what it actually costs
(and why you have to ask)
If you have gone looking for what it costs to send iMessage to your own customers, you have probably had the same afternoon everyone else has: several tabs open, several pricing pages, and not one number you can actually plan around.
This article is our attempt to just write it down. Sendblue's published prices, what those plans do and don't allow, what genuinely isn't published, and what we charge — which is on our pricing page, because that is where prices go.
What Sendblue publishes
Taken from sendblue.com/pricing as it stood in August 2026:
| Plan | Price | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Free Sandbox | $0 | Testing only. Up to 10 verified contacts, inbound-first, no dedicated number. |
| AI Agent | $100 / month per line | Dedicated number, webhooks, media. Inbound-first — the contact has to text you first. |
| Enterprise | Custom quote | Full outbound messaging, multiple lines, SOC 2 & HIPAA. |
Read that middle row again, because it is the part that catches people out. The $100 plan cannot message your leads. It is built for conversations that someone else starts. If you want to reach out first — which, for most businesses, is the entire point — you need the Enterprise tier.
And Enterprise has no published price. Not on the pricing page, and not in Sendblue's own provider-comparison article, which lists their outbound plan and says "request a demo for pricing."
To be fair to them: that is a legitimate way to sell software. Enterprise deals genuinely vary. Plenty of good companies price this way.
It is just not much use when you are trying to work out whether you can afford something on a Tuesday afternoon.
So what does outbound cost?
Honestly? We can't tell you, and neither can they without a call.
Third-party comparison sites report figures around $1,000 a month per line. We are not going to present that as fact — those sites sell competing products, and we hold ourselves to the same standard we are asking for here. If a number isn't published by the company charging it, it is hearsay.
What we can say with certainty is the shape of it: the price exists, it is known, and it is deliberately not written down.
What a demo actually costs you
A "book a demo to see pricing" button is not a neutral piece of UI. It is a trade, and you are on the paying side of it.
- Your contact details, into a CRM, permanently.
- Thirty minutes minimum — scheduling, the call itself, the follow-up.
- A follow-up sequence you did not ask for and will have to unsubscribe from.
- The anchor. By the time a number arrives you have invested time, and a rep has spent that time framing what "reasonable" looks like.
None of that helps you evaluate software. It helps close you. That is what it is for.
Under one of Sendblue's own ads recently, someone asked what a line costs now. The reply was a booking link. His answer was blunt — he was setting it up himself, and if he couldn't get pricing on the site for a piece of software, he wasn't interested.
He is not unusual. He is most technical buyers.
What we charge
All of this is on our pricing page. You do not need to talk to anyone.
| iBlueText | Sendblue | |
|---|---|---|
| Outbound iMessage line | $99 / month | Quote only |
| Setup, per line | $249 one-time | Not published |
| Cheapest plan that can message your leads | $99 | Enterprise |
| iPhone number lookup | $0.005 flat | Paid API |
| Per-message fees | None | None |
| Demo required to see pricing | No | For outbound, yes |
| Free to start | 100 lookups, no card | Sandbox, 10 contacts |
Yes, we charge a $249 one-time setup per line and Sendblue's published plan doesn't. We are telling you that here rather than letting you find it at checkout. A line means a real iPhone, a real Apple ID and a real number that we provision and maintain for you; the setup fee is that work, once.
What a year actually looks like
Setup plus twelve months, using each vendor's own published numbers:
- iBlueText — $1,437 ($249 + $99×12)
- Tuco AI — $2,123 ($335 + $149×12)
- Blooio dedicated — $3,468 ($289×12)
- Linq — $4,000 ($1,000 setup + ~$250×12)
- Project Blue — $4,100 ($500 + $300×12)
- Sendblue outbound — not published
We are the cheapest published option for a dedicated outbound line, by roughly 1.5× against the next one and 2.9× against the most expensive. Every figure above came off a public pricing page, and we would encourage you to go and check them rather than take our word for it. They change.
Why we do it this way
Partly conviction, partly self-interest — we would rather be honest about both.
The conviction: if a price only makes sense after a rep has spent half an hour explaining it, the problem is usually the price.
The self-interest: we are a small company. We do not have a sales team to work a pipeline of demo bookings, and we would rather spend the money on hardware and support than on people whose job is to get you on a call. Publishing the number means the people who arrive have already decided it works for them.
That is a real trade-off. If you want a dedicated account manager, procurement paperwork and a SOC 2 report, we are genuinely not the right fit and Sendblue may well be. If you want to read a price, start, and get on with your day, that is what we built.
How to actually check us
- Start free — 100 iPhone lookups, no card.
- Run your own list through it. See what proportion is actually on iMessage before spending anything on reaching them.
- If the numbers work, add a line. If they don't, you have lost nothing and nobody will ring you.
Pricing, on a page, like it should be
